The Adriatic for the Adriatic

At Hotel Adriatic, we have long been aware of the growing threat that plastic pollution poses to marine biodiversity, which is why, back in 2018, we made the decision to become Croatia’s first hotel free of single-use plastics, replacing them with sustainable alternatives. As a leader in the initiative for a plastic-free work environment and guest experience, Hotel Adriatic engages employees, suppliers, partners, guests, and the local community in bringing this initiative to life.
Our contribution

Committed to becoming Croatia’s first hotel free of single-use plastics, Hotel Adriatic has completely eliminated disposable plastic products from guest rooms, bars, and the restaurant (including toiletries, beverage bottles, bags, containers, cups, and more). The hotel also partners with suppliers whose products are made from natural, eco-friendly, or recycled materials.
Guests staying at Hotel Adriatic can choose from a variety of environmentally friendly experiences such as dolphin watching with local guides, visiting Rovinj’s eco-market, exploring the town on hotel bicycles, or discovering award-winning Istrian organic olive oil producers. As of 2024, guest transfers to nearby islands are provided by the eco-catamaran Revera, a pioneering vessel built from environmentally friendly materials and designed with state-of-the-art sustainable travel technology. The catamaran runs on electricity produced by its own photovoltaic power system, ensuring a completely sustainable operation. This innovation sets new standards for sustainable maritime transport, demonstrating a commitment to environmental preservation while providing guests with exceptional service.
For land transportation, guests have access to complimentary bicycles and electric golf carts, which run on eco-friendly electricity, allowing seamless movement through the pedestrian zone and the Golden Cape forest park. Their silent operation allows local wildlife in the forest park to remain undisturbed, supporting the conservation of the area’s natural ecosystem.
