Maistra Campsites Amarin and Valkanela Ranked Among the Best in Europe
The prestigious camping guide by the German Automobile Club has published a list of Europe’s top campsites, with two Maistra campsites – Amarin in Rovinj and Valkanela in Vrsar – earning the Superplatz distinction for 2025, one of the most important awards in the camping industry.
“Receiving the ADAC Superplatz award for 2025 is a great privilege and a clear reflection of our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for our guests. This achievement is the result of our team’s dedication and the trust our guests place in us, for which we are deeply grateful. We are especially proud that our Rovinj campsites, Veštar and Polari, have retained the Superplatz designation for 2025, meaning Maistra now has four out of six campsites in its portfolio with this prestigious title. This serves as additional motivation for us to keep enhancing our services and to set new standards in camping tourism,” remarked Nenad Škuflić, Director of Maistra Camping.
ADAC, Europe’s largest and oldest automobile association with 18 million members, awards the Superplatz designation exclusively to campsites that meet rigorous criteria in five key categories: campsite maintenance, quality of swimming facilities, range of leisure activities, supply, and sanitation conditions. At ADAC, they pay special attention to camping – the popularity and relevance of their camping guide are reflected in the fact that it is referred to as “the camping bible”.
Key Investments in Award-Winning Campsites
Both of the Maistra campsites that have received the distinction are located in scenic coastal locations, featuring accommodation in modern mobile homes and pitches, with a total capacity for more than 7,500 guests. The majority of the guests are from Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, which reflects the strong reputation of the campsites in some of the most demanding markets.
Over the past two years, Maistra has made significant improvements to these campsites by investing in infrastructure and amenities. At the Valkanela campsite, among other upgrades, a new sports zone has been introduced, complete with facilities for every age group, along with new sections featuring modern mobile homes. With the introduction of the first smart mobile homes in Maistra’s portfolio, a new front desk area and store, as well as attractions like the skate park and sports zone, the Amarin campsite is at the forefront of innovation. For next season, guests can look forward to a new pool complex and a central square. Both campsites continue to expand the MaiEats gourmet concept, with Valkanela now offering the MaiSky Kids Club for children, and the Ultramarine Kids Club set to debut in Amarin next year.
Additional Accolades
In addition to receiving the ADAC distinction, the Valkanela campsite also took first place in the large campsites category in Istria at the Naj kamp Adria 2024 awards, reinforcing the high level of guest satisfaction.
