Explore the city walls on foot

Old City of Dubrovnik

Island of Lokrum

Dubrovnik Cathedral

The Assumption Cathedral was built on the site of the old Romanesque Byzantine church which was largely destroyed in the 1667 earthquake that devastated Dubrovnik. The cathedral grounds also include a reliquary that contains priceless artefacts from Dubrovnik’s history.

Rector’s Palace

As the name suggests, the Rector’s Palace is a palace that served as the home of the ruler of the Republic of Ragusa. Today, the Rector’s Palace houses the Dubrovnik Cultural History Museum, and its atrium is used for concerts and cultural and entertainment programmes.

Set sail for the Elaphiti Islands

Interestingly, the Elaphiti Islands were named after deer, even though they can no longer be found on the islands today. For that reason, the locals sometimes call them Jelenski otoci, meaning Deer Archipelago. This small archipelago consists of twelve islands and islets, which in ancient times fascinated the great ancient writer and scholar Pliny. Climb the Srđ mountain

This four-hundred-metre-high hill above Dubrovnik has defended it from would-be conquerors many times throughout history.
